    With the arrival of developer Arthur Annis at the beginning of the Great Depression, the old town of Visitation was renamed to the present day name. Anyone was allowed to purchase a lot very cheaply and build their own house. 
    During the thirties the town established utility services, a bus service, a public school and a library, and more. From there the community grew into the city it is today, a well-kept secret just southeast of San Francisco.
